Fall is in the air and it’s time to show appreciation for one of North Carolina's most prized crops; apples! North Carolina actually ranks seventh out of all the states for apple production in the US, so it’s only natural that we celebrate during apple season to show our appreciation.
The Apple Harvest isn’t just for appreciating those juicy, crisp fruits. Festivals & events in the fall months give small and local businesses in Waynesville a step up in preparation for the slower months ahead. Showing up is one easy way you can support our wonderful community, and you’ll have fun while doing so!
Things will be a little different this year in order to keep our community as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of a festival, think of this year’s event more like a pop-up market. Please help keep our community strong and safe by practicing social distancing, wearing a mask, and sanitizing to keep those germs at bay.
So what can you expect?
In past years, there have been many vendors lining Main Street for the annual Apple Festival, but this year will be a little different. There will be vendors, but they will be spread out in order to limit large numbers of attendees from gathering in the same spaces.
All of your favorite shops and merchants will have doors open and will be showcasing their newest inventory! Make sure to swing by and show support during this festive time of the year, and even take this opportunity to take a leap ahead of the Christmas shopping crowds this year. Shopping local and supporting small businesses is so appreciated by us merchants in Waynesville. We couldn't do what we love without the support of our fantastic community!
Just like your favorite merchants, your favorite restaurants will be open and serving up the delicious flavors of Waynesville! You’ll find outdoor seating, and a few booths with some tasty treats. Come out and see what goodies you can find!
Our Main Street family is excited for the opportunity to gather together and celebrate fall, community support, and what it means to work together in a small town. We hope to see you there!
